forecast map, that would be 90s right there and the orange would be 80s, warm unless you're right by the immediate coast there. and temperatures in the upper 60s, 70s, coast and bay area 80s and 90s inland. >> traffic is moving along pretty well. today is the first day of the u.s. open in daly city at the olympic club so you should be aware that area is crowded. there will be no parking near that area so we're going to be reminding you of that all week long. >> let's go out and take a look at westbound 80. that traffic looks pretty coordinate. also the morning commute looks good on highway 4 and up and over the hill to concord. this morning's drive is doing well in the south bay along northbound 280 getting up to highway 718. we begin with developing news. an apartment fire in the east by a that started at about 1:00

this morning causing major damage to a complex on shore view court. already rain plan koa joins us now. goo good morning pam. firefighters are investigating the cause but they think it could have started on a porch because of a barbecue grill. we were able to obtain this video. here is home video right at the beginning of the flames. contra costa fire told us it became a 3 alarm blaze after 1 a.m. this morning. at least three units were fully engulfed. everyone was able to get out of safely but four families in four units can't go back home. >> i thought i smelled it and i go to my window, and i'm looking and i see on the other side it was like a bunch of fire. i could smell it, so i just -- i said fire, fire. >> smoke detectors did alert the people in all the units.

low humidity and wind made this a tougher fire to fight. the american red cross is helping families with food and shelter this morning. reporting live in bay point. in overnight news a woman was killed after her car crashed into a disabled big rig in the south bay. that crash scene was just cleared about an hour ago. it happened on southbound 880 near that has min drive in mill pee gas just after midnight. highway patrol officers say the big rig had pulled over on the right shoulder because of a mechanical issue. they say the female driver somehow veered off the freeway and plowed right into the back of that big rig. she died at the scene. the cause of the crash is still under investigation. a man was shot and killed in oakland last night. that happened shortly before 11:00 on foothill boulevard between 22nd and 23rd avenue. police spent the night gathering evidence from the scene, but they have not yet revealed details of their

investigation. so far there's no word of any arrest or suspect descriptions. the coast guard is now suspending its search for a 22- year-old man who fell from the cliffs. on saturday night andrew baiter was climbing with a friend on the rocks at baa day georgia head when he slipped and fell into the water. the coast guard immediately responded launching boats and helicopters to search for him. >> searchers respond out there, found the backpack in the water, believe it belonged to the gentleman who fell, but we have not recovered anyone from the water. >> now, the friend he was with says that bader hit his head on the rocks before disappearing into the waves. the coast guard and sheriff's department say he is presumed dead. a firefighter was hurt, one person had to be rescued in oakland's china town. the fire started just before

6:15 last night on the second floor of a building on webster street. firefighters say it looked small when they arrived but flared up quickly. it took about 90 minutes to get that fire under control. one firefighter received a minor burn. investigators say the fire may have been sparked by a water heater in the back of the building. this morning a red flag fire warning remains in effect in the north bay mountains and the east bay hills. firefighters from across the bay area are going door to door warning homeowners of the extreme fire danger. they're also giving people important safety tips ahead of what could be a very bad fire season here in the bay area. >> the fire comes in here, throws an ember in here and it catches this and made it across the road. what we like to see is the breakup of the continuity of the fuel. >> now, the red flag warning went into effect over the weekend because of hot temperatures and gusty winds. the lack of rain here in the bay area over the past four months is also adding to the

fire danger. hundreds of people have been forced there their homes in colorado because of a growing wild fire near fort collins. coming up in 9 minutes why firefighters are having a particularly tough time fighting that fire. a small fire prompted a big response in napa county. that started yesterday afternoon at a recycling center on the silverado trail outside of cool toga. dozens of fire raced to the scene, and crews were able to put it out in less than an hour. only about a quarter of an acre burned along with trash. two grass fires that started within 30 minutes of each other are under investigation down in south bay. the fire was reported just before 1:30 saturday afternoon near highway 87 in south san jose. thenow, the other was at a landfill in mall pita. a neighbor shot this video of a

fire near highway 87. fire officials say the flames were fueled by winds up to 25 miles an hour. fire officials in contra costa county are investigating a fire in hercules as suspicious. heavy brush and fencing near several homes fueled the fire saturday night. they also had a water problem. the closest fire hydrant was not working. fire officials have not said why they believe the fire is suspicious, and the cause is under investigation, but no one was hurt and no homes damaged there. opening statements begin today in the child molestation trial of jerry sandusky. he is accused of sexually abusing ten boys over a 15 year period. prosecutors say he met some of the alleged victims through his second mile charity, and that some of the alleged abuse happened on the pen state

campus. sandusky has denied the allegations. his trial is expected to last three weeks. the man convicted of killing his father and two sons in san fransisco is scheduled to be sentenced. he was convicted of three counts of murder in the deaths of two of his sons michael and matthew in 2008. prosecutors argued in court that ramos shot the family after mistaken them for rival gang members. ramos is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. sacramento police are investigating a shooting that kill four people, including the suspected gunman. now police believe the gunman was let into a home saturday night and started shooting the people inside. the gunman shot a couple in their 50s and two other people. three of them died. the other was taken to the hospital in critical condition. police say the couples son

heard the shooting and fired back killing the suspected shooter. >> it makes me want to stay on my toes and watch people around here because it might be you the next time. >> the couple that died were spiritual leaders in the mung community. investigators say there were no signs of forced entry. they don't believe the shooting was random. a motive is not known but police do believe it may be gang related. three people rescued a woman from the oaklandest you ware after she ran her car off the road. that happened at 8:15 last night by the oakland ate. the rescuers spotted the woman's car in the water feet from the shore and say it was sinking fast so they jumped in the water and if you would her to safety. she was treated and released at the scene. no word on what caused her to drive off the road. 4:38 is the time right now. let's check in with sal for a complete look at the early morning commute. >> well, traffic is going to be

busy out there in some areas. we still have a closure of a ramp coming in from the east shore freeway and heading out to the anymore mitts freeway. let's go to a live picture. this is a look at 80 westbound. the ramp from southbound 80 westbound 80 is closed and the traffic is not very heavy because it is light. you'll have to use a detour from 580 to 80. also this morning's commute is moving along pretty nicely at the bay bridge toll plaza getting into san fransisco. on the other side of the bay, daly city today is the first practice round of the u.s. open. the actual tournament begins thursday but there's activity there all week. you'll not be able to get there directly. you're going to have to use shuttle buses at candle stick park or take public transportation. people can also walk if you want a good healthy walk so there won't be any parking near

the area. also this morning at 4:39 let's go to steve for the weather. >> and sal, as you know west lake, the weather can be much much different. >> absolutely. >> even those three areas. so inland it won't be a problem today. it will be sunny, even the coast is mostly clear. there's a little hint of some fog maybe around half-moon bay so a little westerly wind might develop some fog so take a jacket just in case. 50s for temperatures now. inland it will be warm to hot. we're already sitting in the 60s. when travis is less than 10 that's ha sure sign it's not amounting to a hill of beans. high pressure is our fair weather friend. we're losing a little bit of that easterly breeze. it turned westerly yesterday for some. it will still be sunny, hot, 60s, 70s by the coast unless you santa t cruise.

. good morning except for a few tiny patches of fog. 60s and 50s for lows. big difference in temps 60s, 70s coast and bay and 90s inland. thousands of people have been evacuated as a high park fire continues to burn in colorado. firefighters expect lightning sparked the fire which was quickly fueled by strong winds. it burned at least 20,000 acres in 48 hours in the area near fort collins. firefighters say it continues to grow threatening more homes and people. >> these folks are doing everything they can, but mother nature is running this fire yesterday and today. all we can do is get people out of the way. >> 18 structures have been damaged or destroyed so far. wild fire officials say resources are being spread thin because of other fires burning in nearby areas. that includes the little bear fire burning in southern new mexico, a lightning strike on june 4th is being blamed for that wild fire. yesterday new mexico's governor

called for the national guard to help get the fire under control. that fire is being considered a large threat because of how close it is burning to homes. police and firefighters are urging people to leave as soon as possible. police in alabama are searching for the gunman who killed three people at a party near auburn university. december monetary leonard is suspected of opening fire in an off campus apartment complex saturday night. witnesses say the violence started when several men got into a fight over a woman at a pool party. three people were shot and killed including two former auburn university football players. a current football player was injured along with two other people. 4:46 is the time right now. a newark woman is recovering this morning after she was shot in the throat after driving on the freeway in richmond. police say the 57-year-old was on interstate 80 when someone opened fire. the bull let went through a

side door and a headrest before hitting her. she was able to drive herself to the hospital and no one has been arrested. a brutal attack that took place after a raiders race has turned into a homicide race. family and friends of stephen martin have set up a facebook page. he suffered a critical brain injury in an attack at golden gate park. on friday he was taken off life support. san fransisco police say anyone who ran the beta breakers could be a potential witness. >> it kind of makes sense that some things could go unnoticed in everything that was happening that terrible things could happen. >> the attack happened shortly before 5 p.m. and witnesses say martin was wearing a green troll doll wig when he began arguing with a group of men in 49ers jerseys. one of the men ran toward martin and punched him. he then fell and hit his head

on the curb. a private funeral will be held later this morning for a mountain view teenager. 16-year-old nick war residence was shot and killed last week while visiting his grandmother. prosecutors have charged the teenagers uncle 41-year-old adrian wallace with the shooting. he was a sophomore in mountain view. the only american to die in a plane crash in indonesia is now buried in an east bay cemetery. peter add letter was remembered by family and friends as a man who loved aviation. he was working as a consultant for an airline. hid widow says one consolation for her is he was passionate about what he was doing. >> he died doing what he loved. he loved his life. he proposed in back of lax.

peter and miranda adler were married for 33 years. they have two children together. u.s. commerce secretary john brew son is accused of causing two car crashes in southern california and has been cited for felony hit and run. around 5 p.m. on saturday brison rear-ended a car that was stopped for a train. he talked to the three men inside that car but then took off hitting their car again as he left. 5 minutes later bryson hit another car. officers found him unconscious. he was taken to the hospital but has since been released. police say initial tests did not detect any drugs or alcohol. the roger clemens perjury trial is about to go to jury. the defense plans to wrap its case today with closing arguments tomorrow. the jury will then begin deciding his fate following a two young trial. he is charged with lying to

congress in 2008 when he denied using steroids. st arizona voters will decide in a special election who will take over gab row el giffords seat in the house of representatives. over the weekends give fords campaigned for her former aide ron basher who's the democratic candidate running for the seat. she gave up her seat to concentrate on her recovery after being shot in the head at a political event back in january 2011. in valet he is 300 kids are expected to attend a youth summit designed to teach them skills to keep them off the streets. at the kick off to the youth summit organizers outlined what's in store for those who attend from workshops on conflict resolution to a presentation by the dmz on how to get a driver's license.

welcome back. time now is 4:53. ed toed 49ers start selling 50,000 season tickets for reserved seating at the new stadium. prices range from 85 to $200 per game. some tickets cost twice as much as a similar seat at candle stick park. fans also have to pay a one time license fee ranging between 2 and $12,000. the world's best golfers are here in the bay area this week for the 112th u.s. open. it's being held at the olympic club. practice rounds start at 7:00 this morning. the tournament begins on thursday. tiger woods, phil mickelson and bubba watson will tee off together in the first two rounds. that's going to be exciting. 4:54 is the time. sal, i went out there last time to the olympic club, gorgeous place. >> i've been out there for a few tournament, beautiful course but one of the things we want to let you know is the

traffic implications. it is going to be tough. parking will not be available on site. if you take public transportation you'll be able to shuttle down from the bart station. that's probably the best bet. it might be tough getting a table at the west lake joes. let's take a look, northbound 280 getting up to highway 17. that traffic is moving along pretty well. no major problems. northbound 17 traffic is going to be moving around very nicely. also the morning commute looks good. on westbound 80, the ramp from 80 westbound to southbound # 80 is shut down until 5:30 so everyone has to use a detour which would be eastbound 580 over to 980. we'll let you know when that ramp is reopened again. and the morning community on the peninsula is doing pretty well as you drive on the peninsula. heading to the south bay we're off to a nice start on the freeways there and from 880 from hayward to fremont still looks good. >> skies are mostly clear, a

few hints of some fog, not a big deal yet. it's still south and offshore so not going to be much of a factor today. some of the lows 60 crazy others 50 degrees. san jose at a balmy 61. southwest photographs a little easterly component at san jose. high pressure here today. it will start to break down a little bit tomorrow as low pressure moves in. that will allow the door to open up to more of a sea breeze. actually could see it turn a little bit yesterday but the fog wasn't there so it didn't really matter, but hot inland. it will be nice to mild, to warm closer to the coast. 60s, 70s, 80s and also 90s. patchy low clouds. there's going to be a huge difference in temps today. some mid-90s alameda 80, 95 gill row, 92 say toga.
